The Korea Battery Industry Association noted on the 18th that it held the K-Battery Standardization Forum at COEX in Seoul and announced a battery standardization roadmap based on industry demand.

The association has established nine subcommittees for each sector of the battery industry and developed a plan to establish a total of 24 standards by 2028.

Key contents include ▲ expanding standards for next-generation battery materials ▲ enhancing standards for chemical and electrochemical analysis methods ▲ standardizing testing methods for application fields ▲ categorizing the residual value of used batteries ▲ coding for recycling materials ▲ classifying the risk of used batteries and transportation guidelines.

The association explained, “It is necessary to expand standard development and target scope to create a market environment for high-quality batteries with excellent performance and high safety.”

It also noted, “We plan to utilize cooperation between the National Institute of Technology and Standards and the industry to advance standard development and uncover additional demand as the foundation for establishing K-Battery standardization strategies.”
