The Korea Federation of Micro Enterprises noted that as the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol has passed the National Assembly, the political sector must now unite to revitalize the economy.
On the 15th, the federation stated in a position paper, "We respect the decision of the National Assembly" and urged that "the subsequent procedures be left to the Constitutional Court's judgment and that the political sector collaborate across party lines to focus on economic recovery."
The statement continued, "Due to the recent series of events leading to reservation cancellations and consumer contraction, the special year-end sales are not even a concern, and the situation of micro enterprises, already struggling, has been pushed to the extreme." They added, "Now is the time to dispel economic uncertainty."
In fact, a recent emergency survey conducted by the federation involving 1,630 micro enterprises revealed that 88.4% are experiencing a decline in sales due to the state of emergency.
The federation advised, "As the situation has shifted, we hope that the public will safely visit the micro enterprise stores that brightly light up the streets" and stated, "We hope that the government and the National Assembly will mobilize all available policy measures to swiftly initiate support for micro enterprises."
They remarked, "We hope that representatives of micro enterprises will also be included in the discussions of the negotiating body, establishing itself as a veritable economic and livelihood control tower to navigate the emergency economic situation by pooling the wisdom of all economic actors." The federation also conveyed, "We will do our utmost to help micro enterprises, which are the foundation of the livelihood economy and employment, overcome the economic crisis they face."
