Domestic multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) shares are strong early on the 11th on expectations of rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI) servers and auto electronic components.
At 10 a.m. on the KOSDAQ market, Amotech(052710) hit the daily limit up, trading at 15,130 won, up 3,490 won (29.98%) from the previous session.
At the same time, Samwha Capacitor(001820) was at 1,386,000 won, up 229,000 won (19.79%) from the prior day. Next, Korchip(126730) was up 2,200 won (11.40%) to 21,500 won, and HanChem(457370) was up 800 won (10.35%) to 8,530 won, continuing to trade higher. AVATEC (9.38%), HanWool Semiconductor (6.90%), and GIS (4.49%) also joined the advance.
The rise in MLCC-related stocks appears to reflect analysts' views in the securities industry that demand for MLCCs will keep expanding as the AI industry accelerates and the market for auto electronic components such as Autonomous Driving grows, boosting investor sentiment.
Kim Un-ho, an analyst at IBK Securities, said in a report on Amotech on the day that "sales of MLCCs, the core growth driver, are steadily growing, and sales related to optical networks, a key future issue tied to AI, will grow rapidly."
He added, "Until last year, the main customers for MLCCs were in auto electronics, but starting this year they will shift to AI," noting that "Marvell and Coherent will lead the results."
