Chubb Group said on the 3rd that it will appoint Kim Il-pyeong (photo), former executive vice president of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, as the new head of Lina General Insurance, effective on the 15th.
Kim earned a bachelor's degree in statistics from Korea University and a master's degree in financial engineering from KAIST Graduate School. Kim then worked for more than 30 years at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, leading sales channel strategy, underwriting, and risk management organizations.
Current head Mo Jae-kyung will move to head of corporations insurance, overseeing operations and financial performance of the corporations insurance business.
Marcos Gunn, president of business for the Asia-Pacific region at Chubb Group, said, "Kim has a deep understanding of the Korean insurance market, built on a career grounded in professional underwriting capabilities, strategic channel expansion, and management innovation experience," and added, "Kim's leadership will drive strategic initiatives across Lina General Insurance's personal insurance business and also support the continued growth agenda in corporations insurance."
