On the 1st (local time), Chair Jeong Eun-bo of Korea Exchange (KRX) met with the chief investment officer (CIO) of California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), the largest U.S. public pension fund.
The exchange said Jeong held talks with CalPERS CIO Stephen Gilmore in Sacramento, California, on the day.
CalPERS is the largest public pension fund in the United States, with about 2.4 million members.
In the meeting, Jeong listened to views and points of interest on Korea's capital market from the perspective of global long-term investors. Jeong also explained the results of capital market system improvements pursued by the government and the exchange, and the investment appeal of the Korean market.
Jeong said, "We will continue to communicate with long-term investors, including CalPERS and other major global pension funds, to deepen understanding of and interest in Korea's capital market," adding, "We will actively promote the investment appeal of our market."
