Jin Ok-dong said on the 1st that "the first condition we must have to leap forward as a global financial group is trust."
At the 25th anniversary ceremony of Shinhan Financial Group(055550) held at the headquarters in Jung District, Seoul, on the morning of the 1st, Jin said, "Losing trust is the same as losing future growth opportunities," and stated accordingly.
Jin said, "For a financial company that manages customers' asset, trust is not one among many values but the starting point and final gate of every decision and sustainable growth," adding, "Every time financial company executives and employees meet customers, they must constantly look back on whether they and the company are trusted."
Jin especially predicted that in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), the scope of trust will expand even to "AI agents" that compare products and carry out investment and transactions on behalf of customers. Jin said, "Going forward, the crucial competitiveness lies not only in how well we use AI but in how well we design AI that customers can trust."
He also repeatedly emphasized the importance of internal controls. "Zero scandals and proactive sales are not conflicting concepts," he said. "It means we must excel in sales while thoroughly adhering to internal controls." He added, "Building trusted individuals, trusted systems, and a trusted financial group—that is the most important strength in creating Shinhan's next history."
