The Korea Insurance GA Association said that new Executive Vice Chair Song Jae-geun (photo) began the term on the 1st. Song was elected executive vice chair at the regular general meeting held from the 10th to the 13th of last month. The term is two years, through Aug. 31, 2028.
Born in 1962, Song graduated from Dankook University with a degree in German language and literature and received a master's in finance and insurance from Yonsei University Graduate School. Starting public service at the Ministry of Finance in 1988, Song served as head of the Innovation Administration and Human Resources Team at the Financial Services Commission, Director at the Financial Intelligence Unit, and Director for Audit and Inspection.
Song then worked as executive managing director at the Korea Life Insurance Association from 2016 to 2020 and served as business representative director at the National Credit Union Federation of Korea from 2020 to 2024. This is the first time a former Financial Services Commission (FSC) official has been appointed executive vice chair in the GA industry.
Song said, "Drawing on 36 years of experience and networks spanning the public and private sectors, I will actively communicate with the financial authorities and related institutions to promote the sound development of the GA industry and do my best to serve as a stepping-stone for member companies' growth."
