The Financial Supervisory Service said on the 31st it will hold a public briefing to disclose the progress of its financial consumer protection policies and hear opinions on the future policy direction.
The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) will hold the "financial consumer protection achievements public briefing" at 2 p.m. on the 17th of next month in the auditorium on the second floor of its Yeouido headquarters in Seoul. About 250 people, including general financial consumers, employees of the financial industry and related institutions, outside experts, and FSS employees, are expected to attend.
Based on the "road map to improve financial consumer protection" prepared in December last year, the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) has made financial consumer protection a core task for all employees and built a consumer protection system using tools such as supervision, inspection, and dispute mediation. It is also focusing on shifting from a method of handling problems after financial products are sold to a preventive supervisory system that blocks consumer harm in advance.
The event is intended to share the results of consumer protection policies with the public and hear on-the-ground feedback on future improvements. In the first session, the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) will present the results of implementing the road map to improve financial consumer protection and key progress. The second session will feature a panel discussion with members of the Financial Consumer Protection Advisory Committee, the legal community, the media, civic groups, and general consumers. There will also be an open floor for attendees and an on-site Q&A with FSS executives.
Members of the public who wish to attend in person can apply from today through the 8th of next month. The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) will select attendees by lottery from among the applicants and provide individual notifications by the 11th of next month. Financial consumers who cannot attend in person can watch the event via a live stream on the FSS's official YouTube channel.
The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) said it will continue close communication with financial consumers and keep working to build a robust consumer protection system.
