Manho Rope & Wire(001080) and affiliates MH Dynamics and MH Systems said on the 31st they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Robot User Association for "fostering the used-robot remanufacturing robot refurb industry and activating advanced manufacturing process technologies using robots."
Manho Rope & Wire and the association said they will use the deal to develop leading technologies in the robot refurb field and cooperate on ▲ revitalizing production and manufacturing of refurb robots and parts ▲ expanding the application of refurb robots to manufacturing processes ▲ building refurb robot and parts cluster infrastructure ▲ exchanging technology and commercialization information ▲ and discovering joint projects.
Robot refurbishment is the process of retrieving robots used on industrial sites, disassembling and inspecting them, repairing or replacing needed parts, reassembling, and verifying performance before redeploying them in the field.
Manho Rope & Wire and its affiliates plan to link the on-site experience and technology needs for industrial robots accumulated by the Korea Robot User Association and the Korea Robot Refurb Center to the affiliates' product and technology development through this agreement.
In particular, the plan is to identify demand for parts replacement and technical requirements confirmed during the refurb process, discover robot parts and technologies with high commercialization potential, and pursue productization and commercialization by connecting them with the affiliates' manufacturing and technological capabilities.
Chief Executive Im Gwan-heon of Manho Rope & Wire said, "This agreement is meaningful in discovering robot technologies and parts needed in industrial sites and connecting them to the group's manufacturing and technological capabilities," adding, "Together with affiliates, we will promote technology development and on-site demonstrations to develop the robot parts and advanced manufacturing sectors into new growth businesses."
Director Lee Cheon of the Korea Robot Refurb Center said, "It is important to connect the on-site experience and technology needs accumulated during the robot refurb process with the technology development capabilities of manufacturing companies," adding, "With Manho Rope & Wire and its affiliates, we will discover joint projects that lead to robot parts development, manufacturing process application and demonstrations, and commercialization."
