KB Financial Group(105560) The holding company chairman candidate recommendation committee (chairman recommendation committee) said on the 27th that it held a meeting and selected three final candidates for the next chairman, in name order: former Woori Bank president Kwon Kwang-seok, KB Financial Group Chairman Yang Jong-hee, and KB Financial Group institutional sector head Lee Jae-geun.
The chairman recommendation committee said it conducted first-round interviews and evaluations of six candidates for the next chairman that day and narrowed the pool to three. The committee plans to conduct second in-depth interviews with the three candidates on the 11th of next month and then finalize the nominee.
Chairman recommendation committee member Cho Hwa-jun said, "This management succession process is being conducted transparently according to fair and objective standards," and added, "We will do our utmost to the end so that the most suitable person, whom all stakeholders can trust, can be appointed as the next chairman."
In the financial sector, the focus is on whether Yang will serve another term. Because Yang is the sitting chairman, the financial sector views him as being on more favorable ground compared with other candidates. Yang joined Housing Bank in 1989 and served as CEO of KB Insurance and vice chairman of KB Financial Group. Since taking office as chairman in Nov. 2023, he is credited with solidifying the status of a "leading financial group," including leading KB Financial Group to record-high results.
