Dunamu, which operates the virtual asset exchange Upbit, said on the 26th that it has been designated as the first domestic virtual asset exchange to be included among institutions that can jointly use administrative information.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted an on-site inspection of Dunamu in May and is said to have designated it as a target institution.
Joint use of administrative information is a service introduced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) to reduce the inconvenience of users having to submit documents themselves when handling civil petitions and administrative tasks. Information held by administrative agencies and others can be checked and used through the government network.
With Dunamu designated as a target institution, some analysts say a path has opened for virtual asset exchanges to access public data infrastructure like traditional financial companies.
A Dunamu official said, "Dunamu has established a foundation to use public information safely and efficiently for user verification," adding, "We will work to minimize inconveniences such as the burden of users submitting documents and to provide convenient customer verification services."
