Mastern Investment Management is making successive adjustments to its vision, organizational culture and talent development system under Chief Executive Park Hyeong-seok. After declaring a new vision and mission in May, the company has been reshaping its operating framework by holding a companywide town hall, training new employees and running a contest for university students.
According to the financial investment industry on the 21st, Mastern Investment Management held a vision declaration ceremony in May at the Dream Hall in the Kyobo Tower in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, with all executives and employees in attendance. The company said it reestablished its vision, mission and investment philosophy on the back of a management turnaround.
The new mission was set as, "Believe in people and potential, grow together based on mutual trust, and create a better tomorrow for clients and society." The vision was set as, "Set a new standard in Asian real estate alternative investment through a robust platform and differentiated expertise."
The investment philosophy was also revamped toward the direction of "creating a better life and world through responsible investment." Park personally unveiled the new vision and explained the management and investment philosophy to employees.
The company is also making changes to organizational operations beyond declaring the vision. Mastern Investment Management decided to institutionalize a CEO-led town hall meeting twice a year and run leadership training by position. It also plans to build a "Mastern Expertise Map" to systematically develop and manage key talent.
In July, the company held the first event of its companywide town hall program, "Mastern Brief," chaired directly by Park. At the event, Park explained the company's step-by-step future blueprint, organizational culture, leadership system, organizational operation direction and talent management policies. After the presentation, a Q&A session with employees followed.
The company is also expanding its talent development programs. At the onboarding training for new employees held from the 6th to the 10th of last month, Park delivered a welcome address and introduced the company, and through a "conversation with the CEO" exchanged views with new employees on organizational culture and growth direction. New employees received practical training such as real estate financial modeling and a commercial real estate market outlook, and took part in field training that included on-site visits to assets managed by the company.
Programs to secure talent prior to hiring are also underway. Mastern Investment Management held the "2026 Mastern Investment Management Idea Contest" on the theme of the Musinsa Seongsu E4 development project in Seongsu-dong, Seoul.
In this program, participants designed investment structures directly from the perspective of a portfolio manager at an asset management company and conducted investor relations (IR) for hypothetical investors, in a hands-on format. Applications were accepted from the 20th of last month to the 11th of this month, and the winning teams will be selected after document screening and final presentations.
The company is also broadening contact with university students. Through its social contribution promotion team, it invited to headquarters the International Forestry Students' Association (IFSA) Korea chapter; the International Relations Institute (IRI) and finance research societies of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies; Korea University's real estate finance society KREDIT; and Sungkyunkwan University's real estate finance society SRF, and held special lectures on real estate finance.
A Mastern Investment Management official said, "We plan to continue strengthening a talent development system that both internalizes the new vision and mission across the organization and encompasses prospective talent from new employees to university students."
