Kakao Pay Securities surpassed 30,000 participants about two weeks after launching a campaign that gives stocks to couples who filed a marriage registration. Most participants were in their 20s and 30s, and more than 30% of applicants did not have an existing Kakao Pay Securities account.
According to Kakao Pay Securities on the 19th, participants who verified their marriage for the campaign titled "In 2026, Korea is a country where you receive stocks when you get married" exceeded 30,000 in the first week of this month. The campaign began on the 22nd of last month.
In this campaign, couples who completed their marriage registration this year and verify it receive domestic stocks worth 50,000 won per person, up to 100,000 won per couple. The aim is to help couples start investing together and build assets as they get married.
Participants surpassed 15,000 five days after the campaign started and reached 20,000 before 10 days had passed. By age, people in their 30s accounted for the largest share at 71.7%, followed by those in their 20s at 23.9% and those in their 40s at 4.2%. Applicants without a Kakao Pay Securities account made up 37% of the total.
Kakao Pay Securities also held a separate event for participating customers. Chief Executive Shin Ho-chul met the 30,000th verified marriage participant on the 12th and presented a 1-don (3.75g) gold bar.
Kakao Pay Securities plans to sequentially roll out campaigns to gift stocks not only for marriage but also for major life milestones such as childbirth and employment.
Shin said, "Creating a culture of conveying sentiments through stocks is what Kakao Pay Securities does best," adding, "We will continue to focus on realizing finance that gifts the future."
Applications for the campaign and submission of marriage verification documents are available until Jan. 10, 2027. By obtaining a certificate of marital status through the KakaoTalk Wallet and submitting it, applicants can apply without opening a separate account.
