Backed by increased domestic and overseas stock transactions in the first half of this year, Toss Securities posted its highest-ever half-year results. In particular, as the domestic stock transaction amount grew to nearly eight times the level of a year earlier, brokerage commission revenue jumped.
According to Toss Securities on the 14th, cumulative net profit for the first half was 236.8 billion won, up 80% from a year earlier. Operating profit rose 89% to 319.5 billion won, and revenue increased 139% to 845.8 billion won. Revenue, operating profit, and net profit all hit all-time highs on a half-year basis.
Second-quarter results also set a record high on a quarterly basis. Second-quarter net profit was 152.5 billion won, up 126% from the same period last year. Operating profit increased about 143% to 207.9 billion won, and revenue expanded 156% to 505.3 billion won.
Active transactions in domestic and overseas stock markets drove earnings growth. The first-half foreign-currency securities transaction amount was 367 trillion won, up 104% from a year earlier. The domestic stock transaction amount was 692 trillion won, up 695%, swelling to about eight times the level of the same period last year.
With the expansion of transaction amounts, brokerage commission revenue also surged. First-half brokerage commission revenue was 343.6 billion won, up 87% from a year earlier. As transactions in domestic stocks as well as overseas stocks increased rapidly, the brokerage revenue base appears to have expanded.
Scale also increased. As of the end of the second quarter this year, Toss Securities' total assets exceeded 12 trillion won, up about 146% from a year earlier.
A Toss Securities official said, "Thanks to stock market activation in the first half and increased investment demand, domestic and overseas stock transaction amounts have steadily risen," and noted, "The resulting increase in brokerage commission revenue is driving strong results and keeping performance solid."
