Operating profit in the first half of this year at Dunamu, which runs the domestic virtual asset exchange Upbit, fell by nearly 80% from the first half of last year as trading volume declined amid a slump in the virtual asset market. Chair Song Chi-hyung of Dunamu and CEO Oh Kyoung-suk of Dunamu received 3.91411 billion won and 1.23816 billion won in compensation, respectively, in the first half.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 14th, Dunamu's first-half operating revenue (sales) on a consolidation basis totaled 408.1 billion won. That was down 49.1% from 801.9 billion won in the first half of last year. Operating profit was 111.5 billion won, down 79.7% from 549.1 billion won a year earlier. Net profit came to 108.4 billion won, plunging 74.1% from 418.2 billion won last year.
Second-quarter sales this year were 173.5 billion won, down 39.3% from the second quarter of last year. Operating profit fell 84.6% to 23.5 billion won. Net profit plunged 60.1% to 39.0 billion won.
Dunamu's weaker results are seen as stemming from reduced exchange trading volume due to the virtual asset market downturn that has continued since the second half of last year. Chair Song received 1.60217 billion won in salary and 2.31194 billion won in bonuses in the first half, totaling 3.91411 billion won. That was about 2.0735 billion won less than last year.
CEO Oh received a total of 1.23816 billion won, combining 459 million won in salary and 779.16 million won in bonuses. That was about 815 million won more than last year.
