Manho Rope & Wire(001080) announced on the 13th a plan to boost corporate value (value-up program) that includes medium- to long-term growth strategies and shareholder return measures. It said it will shift its business structure to focus on high value-added businesses such as mobility, robots, and defense, and strengthen shareholder returns through share retirements and dividends.
Manho Rope & Wire also said it returned to profit after the change in management control in February. The size of the profit, which turned positive after the change in control, is steadily increasing.
According to the value-up program disclosed that day, Manho Rope & Wire plans to shift its business structure to focus on advanced industries such as mobility, robots, and defense, based on the competitiveness of its existing steel business. It aims to strengthen the growth base in mobility, robots, and defense centered on MH Dynamics and MH Systems, whose acquisitions have been completed.
The company said, "We will link the materials and manufacturing capabilities accumulated over 70 years to new businesses and continue strategic mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to strengthen both top-line growth and profitability."
In the existing steel business, it plans to improve its cost structure by enhancing equipment operation efficiency and purchasing competitiveness, and to expand the share of high value-added products such as special steel.
Manho Rope & Wire also set capital allocation principles to improve capital efficiency. During the transformation phase, it plans to sell non-operating assets and use the funds secured for new M&A, shareholder returns, and repayment of borrowing fund.
After the business stabilizes, it plans to gradually expand the scale of shareholder returns based on operating cash flow. As shareholder-friendly policies, it will pursue the phased retirement of treasury shares it holds and semiannual dividends.
Manho Rope & Wire also released its results that day. After the change of the largest shareholder in February, the improvement in results is clear. The company said operating profit for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025 (April–June 2026) was 3.84 billion won, a sharp increase from the previous quarter's 1.26 billion won.
Following the turnaround to a profit in the third quarter, profit expanded sharply in the fourth quarter. Thanks to this, annual sales for fiscal 2025 (July 2025–June 2026) came to 149.55217 billion won on a consolidation basis, and operating profit and net income returned to profit. Operating profit was 461.55 million won, and net income was 1.31991 billion won.
A Manho Rope & Wire official said, "Since acquiring management control, we have prioritized normalizing the profitability of our core business and management efficiency over expanding scale, and have pushed for structural improvements," adding, "Following the turnaround to a profit in the third quarter, fourth-quarter operating profit expanded more than threefold from the previous quarter, and the results of the management efficiency measures we have pursued are now fully emerging."
