High-performance film specialist i-Components said on the 11th that it posted strong second-quarter results on increased sales of high-value-added product lines and production efficiency gains.
According to the company, i-Components reported second-quarter revenue of 11.9 billion won and operating profit of 3.6 billion won. Compared with a year earlier, revenue rose 35.8% and operating profit increased 76.3%. Net profit jumped 244.8% to 4.9 billion won.
i-Components pointed to increased sales of high-value-added product lines and cost reductions from production efficiencies as the drivers behind the results. Building on this, the company plans to focus on technology development and investment to secure mid- to long-term growth engines.
i-Components is preparing the development and mass production of barrier films for perovskite solar cells. The company said it is working with global solar corporations to conduct sample tests and refine product specifications by customer.
i-Components is expanding its business beyond information technology (IT) devices by applying optical films to automotive parts materials such as head-up displays (HUD) and instrument clusters. It is also developing metal mesh film technology that can be applied to touch solutions for medium- to large-sized displays such as tablets and laptops, diversifying its product lineup.
