Korea Exchange (KRX) on the 10th requested a trading query regarding news that SK hynix(000660) plans to dispose of part of its equity in a NAND flash memory semiconductor back-end processing plant in Chongqing, China. The disclosure deadline is 6 p.m. that day.
Earlier, Bloomberg News reported on the 7th (local time), citing multiple sources, that SK hynix is reviewing a sale of equity in its Chongqing plant.
According to the report, SK hynix is reviewing various options, including bringing in investors to accelerate the growth of the Chongqing plant, with potential advisers. Chinese funds and local semiconductor companies are being mentioned as potential buyers.
If an equity sale takes place, the Chongqing plant is expected to be valued at about $3 billion (about 4.233 trillion won), Bloomberg News reported.
SK hynix entered the Chinese market more than 20 years ago by signing a contract to build its first overseas wafer production plant in the eastern city of Wuxi. The Chongqing plant serves as a large-scale semiconductor packaging and testing base.
