The Descente Sports Foundation (Chair Kim Cheol-jung) said on the 7th that it will continue this year with MOVE ONE, a sports sharing culture support program it has run since 2019.
According to the foundation, four schools—Songgok High School, Yongin University, Inha University, and Chungnam National University—were selected through an open call early this year. The foundation has operated the MOVE ONE program since 2019. It is a social contribution activity that supports college students majoring in physical education to provide sports education donations for children and teenagers in their communities.
In addition, through its promising athletes support program, the foundation discovered and backed athletes during their prospect years who are now active on the world stage and in professional leagues, including Kim Je-deok (archery), Park Hye-jeong (weightlifting), Lim Sung-jin (volleyball), and Yang Hong-seok (basketball).
Furthermore, the foundation is running programs that support activities for health promotion and character education for children and teenagers. According to the foundation, these programs aim to prevent declining physical fitness and obesity among children and teenagers. It is also operating MOVE CAMP, a family communication recovery program.
Founded in 2013 as the first nonprofit organization in the sports sector established by a private company, the foundation said it professionally operates a range of sports-related social contribution activities.
Meanwhile, the foundation recently appointed Kim Cheol-jung, head of SU&Financial Investment, as its fourth chair.
Chair Kim said, "Going forward, the foundation will faithfully carry out its role so that sports can turn individuals' dreams into reality and serve as a foundation for building a healthy culture together with local communities."
