Lee Chan-jin, head of the Financial Supervisory Service, attended the 15th East Asia-Pacific Region Meeting of Heads of Financial Regulators and Central Bank Governors (EMEAP GHOS) held in Singapore.
The Financial Supervisory Service said on the 26th that Lee attended the 15th EMEAP GHOS meeting hosted by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on the 23rd and 24th.
The meeting was established in 1991 to promote mutual cooperation and information exchange among financial regulatory bodies and Central Banks from 11 countries in East Asia and the Pacific.
At this meeting, 16 participants, including heads of financial regulators and Central Bank governors from the Asia-Pacific region, discussed the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in the financial sector and response measures related to supply chain damage caused by recent global developments.
Financial regulators included Korea's Financial Supervisory Service, Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK), Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA), China's National Financial Regulatory Administration (NFRA), and Australia's Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).
Central Banks included the Bank of Korea of Korea, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Bank Indonesia (BI), the Bank of Japan (BOJ), the People's Bank of China (PBOC), the Bank of Thailand (BOT), the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), for a total of 11 institutions.
In addition, Lee held a bilateral meeting with Frederica Widyasari Dewi, head of Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK), to discuss ways to enhance exchange and cooperation in the two countries' financial industries.
