The Financial Services Commission said on the 26th that it selected eight civil servants in the first half of this year for excellence in proactive administration. They will receive commendations for merit and incentives such as the highest rating for performance bonuses.
Notable cases include "overhauling the unfair trading whistleblower reward system in the capital market," such as scrapping the cap on rewards for reporting stock price manipulation (Deputy Director Kim Min-su), and "strengthening management of individual arrears in the financial sector," which curbed the occurrence of long-term delinquent claims (Deputy Director Lee So-min).
Also included were the "suspension system for transactions in suspected accounts used for new types of phishing," which prevented losses from romance scams and other phishing crimes (Deputy Director Nam Go-un); the "shift to a licensing regime for purchased receivables collection businesses" (Deputy Director Jang Hee-jin); "establishing a joint support framework in the financial sector for naphtha supply amid the Middle East situation" (Deputy Director Lee Jeong-min); and "revitalizing mid-rate loans" (Deputy Director Jeong Hyeong-jun).
For the sixth Proactive Administration "Nokjo Geunjeong Medal," organized by the Ministry of Personnel Management, the "AI platform for sharing and analyzing voice phishing information" (Deputy Director Yu Eun-ji) was selected.
Kwon Dae-young, vice chair of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), said, "These are cases that show how much people's lives can change through proactive administration by civil servants," adding, "We need to continue to pursue policies that people can feel, in a preemptive and creative way."
