Mirae Asset Group said it would change the name of the virtual asset exchange Korbit to "DigitalX" and create a new investment paradigm by combining Mirae Asset's know-how with Korbit's expertise.
Park Hyeon-joo, Mirae Asset Group global strategist officer (GSO), said in a letter to employees on the 23rd that Korbit became part of Mirae Asset that day, adding, "Now we are beginning a shared voyage to realize the great trend of 'Mirae Asset 3.0' together," and "As the prologue, Korbit makes a fresh start today with the name DigitalX."
Park, the GSO, emphasized that DigitalX will become the most powerful core pillar to realize Mirae Asset 3.0. Park said, "This name goes beyond a simple rebranding; it is a precise compass that points the way forward and a solemn promise that all of us will carry out together."
Park added, "Our mission is to combine two worlds—traditional assets and digital assets, Mirae Asset's deep know-how and Korbit's overwhelming expertise—to create a new investment paradigm that no one has yet explored."
Park, the GSO, said, "When Bitcoin first appeared, few believed in its potential, but those small beliefs that seemed reckless came together to create the miracle of today's vast market," adding, "We will build a new investment ecosystem in which real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, security token offerings (STOs), stablecoins, and traditional and digital assets coexist organically."
In particular, Park set out an ambition to develop it into an intelligent investment platform. Park, the GSO, said, "Beyond a simple exchange, we will greatly strengthen investor education and develop it into an 'intelligent investment platform' where knowledge, information, and deep insights flow organically," adding, "Through this, we will lead the soundest and most correct growth of the domestic and overseas digital asset industry ourselves."
Park also stressed the internal control system. Park said, "Trust takes a lifetime to build, but collapses in a single moment," and asked, "Please comply most perfectly with relevant laws and global standards in all areas, including anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), information security, and the fraud detection system (FDS)."
Park added, "In the process of advancing the Virtual Asset User Protection Act that we will face going forward and refining the STO system, we must become the market's role model that implements the regulators' guidelines most exemplary."
Park, the GSO, said, "Never forget that behind the cold numbers and graphs we face every day, the warm lives of people are always breathing," adding, "The thrill of a young person who dreamed of the future when first buying Bitcoin, the expectations of the younger generation who have quietly accumulated assets for tomorrow, and the trust of the retired generation who entrusted their lifetime savings are all contained intact in our system now," urging a heavy sense of responsibility.
