Police carried out a second seizure and search of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, following one in June. Police are investigating allegations that the federation's secretariat purchased expensive souvenirs with public funds and delivered them to the chair and others.
According to police on the 21st, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's anti-corruption investigation unit is conducting a seizure and search of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation chair's secretariat and other locations.
Earlier, through a special audit, the government detected indications that the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation chair's secretariat purchased high-priced souvenirs such as red ginseng and cosmetics worth 240 billion won with public funds and delivered them to the chair's office and the vice chair's office. The government then asked police to investigate the case, and police carried out the first seizure and search in June.
Police plan to analyze the evidence secured through the two seizures and searches to confirm the actual recipients of the souvenirs and how they were delivered.
