BITPLANET(049470) said on the 20th it was selected as the lead contractor for Korea National Railway's "2026 Railway Facilities Information System (RAFIS) maintenance service" project. The new contract is a re-award following the 2024 project.
RAFIS is Korea National Railway's core information system that systematically manages full life-cycle history information for railway facilities, from installation to inspection, maintenance, and upgrades. BITPLANET has formed a consortium with Dream ICT and All4Land since 2024 and has handled RAFIS maintenance.
For this year's project, a new consortium was formed with Altimetric and KL Information & Communications. BITPLANET will participate as the lead contractor with a 50% equity share, the same as before. The total project amount is about 6.1 billion won. It expanded by roughly 27.1% from the previous year's project (about 4.8 billion won). The project period is 21 months from the contract date.
In this project, the BITPLANET consortium plans to comprehensively rectify more than 230,000 facilities that are not properly registered in RAFIS to ensure consistency in collected data. It will organize the complex RAFIS menu structure to match workflow and improve ease of use, and it will also enhance security by upgrading the user access authorization framework and identity verification procedures.
It will also build a Management Information System (MIS) that allows users to see maintenance status for facilities at a glance and will advance statistical services to improve the work efficiency of officials at Korea National Railway and Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL).
Park Jae-han, head of BITPLANET's system integration (SI) business division, said, "In this project, we will focus on substantively improving data reliability and the work convenience of on-site practitioners to make RAFIS a model case for domestic public information systems."
