Korea Exchange (KRX) said on the 6th that it held an extraordinary shareholders meeting at its Seoul headquarters and appointed Kim U-chan, a Korea University business school professor, as the new KOSDAQ market Chairperson.
The new Chairperson Kim's term is two years, from the 7th to July 6, 2028. The KOSDAQ market Chairperson is appointed at a shareholders meeting following a recommendation by the KOSDAQ Market Committee.
Born in 1967, Chairperson Kim graduated from the Seoul National University Department of International Economics and received master's and doctoral degrees in public policy (finance) from Harvard University in the United States.
Kim currently serves as a Korea University business school professor; head of the Solidarity for Economic Reform; advisor to the growth economy subcommittee of the National Economic Advisory Council; Chairperson of the Financial Supervisory Service's Financial Supervision Advisory Committee; and outside director of Korea Development Bank (KDB).
Previously, Kim served as head of the Economic Reform Research Institute; associate professor at the Korea University business school; and professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, and also worked as an administrative officer at the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Ministry of Finance.
