Korea Investment & Securities Co. is joining hands with the global financial firm Morgan Stanley to build a global business cooperation framework.
Korea Investment & Securities Co., a subsidiary of Korea Investment Holdings, said it discussed future business cooperation plans with Morgan Stanley at its Yeouido headquarters in Seoul on the morning of the 30th.
Core executives from both companies attended the meeting, including President Kim Seong-hwan of Korea Investment & Securities Co.; Mike Levin, Morgan Stanley Investment Management's Asia head; and Han Seung-soo, Morgan Stanley's Korea head.
They exchanged views on this year's business direction and mid- to long-term strategies. They discussed a range of cooperation tasks, including the joint launch of global products for domestic investors.
As part of the collaboration, the two companies are preparing to launch a flagship fund of Morgan Stanley Investment Management that has been operated for a long time and has proven strong performance. This is the first time Morgan Stanley Investment Management's financial products will be supplied through the domestic retail market.
Starting with this first product, Korea Investment & Securities Co. plans to introduce Morgan Stanley Investment Management's high-quality financial products in Korea in sequence. Going beyond simple product sourcing, it plans to strengthen its role as a bridge so domestic investors can more conveniently access professional asset management services from a global financial firm.
Morgan Stanley is one of the world's largest global financial groups, built around three core businesses: investment banking (IB), wealth management (WM), and asset management. Within the group, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, which specializes in asset management, has competitiveness across the entire financial spectrum, including equities and bonds, multi-asset, exchange-traded funds (ETF), private equity (PE), infrastructure, and hedge funds.
Kim Seong-hwan, president of Korea Investment & Securities Co., said, "As domestic investors' demand for global asset allocation is expanding rapidly, it is important to work with world-class financial institutions to provide differentiated investment opportunities," adding, "By partnering with Morgan Stanley Investment Management, we will make it easier for clients to access high-quality global assets and advanced investment strategies, and we will continue to expand our global partnerships going forward."
