Korea Exchange (KRX) finalized the amount of damages for investors who suffered losses due to the error in the reassignment of SCM Lifescience as an issue under management.
According to the financial investment industry on the 30th, the Korea Exchange (KRX) damages review committee decided the eligible recipients and amounts related to this incident that day. The number of recipients is within 50, and the total amount is around 2 billion won.
The incident occurred when the exchange erroneously disclosed on the afternoon of Mar. 16 that it would lift SCM Lifescience from issue-under-management status. The exchange disclosed the lifting around 7 p.m. that day and reassigned it as an issue under management the following day.
At the time, the exchange said it mistakenly believed the conditions to lift issue-under-management status were met based on the 2025 audit report submitted by SCM Lifescience. As a result, SCM Lifescience opened with a 28.05% surge and hit the upper price limit, then gave back gains after the reassignment as an issue under management and ultimately closed down 5.73%.
The exchange plans to pay the compensation next month.
