Naver Pay said on the 29th it will introduce "Smart Pass," a facial recognition departure service at Incheon International Airport. Smart Pass is a service that allows travelers to pass through departure halls and boarding gates via facial recognition when they register facial data, a passport, and a boarding pass in advance. Naver Pay said it enhanced convenience by linking the service with its own facial recognition access and authentication service, "Face Sign."
Any Korean national age 7 or older can use the Smart Pass service. Those ages 7 to 14 need a legal guardian's consent.
To mark the launch of the Smart Pass service, Naver Pay will run a promotion through August that gives 3,000 Naver Pay points when users register Smart Pass and passport information in the Naver Pay application (app).
Lee Hyang-cheol, head of pay services at Naver Pay, said, "Face Sign, which has been proven in various settings, is also applied to Smart Pass and will provide a fast and convenient experience for airport users during the summer vacation season," adding, "We will make Face Sign available in more places going forward."
