As a historic bull market fuels FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), the importance of making decisions based on accurate information is greater than ever.
Toss Securities is strengthening its artificial intelligence (AI)-based services to meet this investor demand. The aim is to provide complex and vast investment information in an easy-to-understand way so investors can invest based on information and evidence, not vague anxiety.
Toss Securities is particularly focused on improving access to overseas corporations information. Earnings calls, which include overseas corporations' results announcements and management's outlook, are important for investment decisions, but because they are conducted in English and it is hard to obtain information in real time, they pose a high entry barrier for individual investors.
To resolve these difficulties, Toss Securities introduced a "real-time translation service for overseas corporations earnings calls" in May last year. It provides simultaneous Korean translation of earnings calls, and after they end, AI summarizes and analyzes key points so investors can quickly grasp the highlights. Toss Securities trained and analyzed more than 40,000 earnings call data points and developed its own finance-specific translation model tailored to results announcements.
User convenience has also been improved. Investors can listen to earnings calls while simultaneously checking charts, quotes, and the investor community or placing a stock transaction. It also offers an "earnings call at a glance" feature that lets users see the schedules of watched tickers and major global corporations' earnings calls in one view. In Feb., it was expanded to "Toss Securities PC," a web-based trading service (WTS).
According to Toss Securities, the real-time earnings call translation service surpassed a cumulative 1.5 million users in Jan. this year. The number of corporations covered by earnings calls to date is over about 2,000.
It also operates "AI Signal," a market analysis service using AI. AI Signal analyzes news and filings in real time to identify drivers of market swings and provides summaries of the price-move backdrop for industries investors hold or follow. Investors can grasp market trends without checking each complex news article and filing one by one.
Toss Securities applied in-house AI technologies such as news classification, finance-specialized translation, and reasoning. The news classification model filters information that influences the market, and the finance-specialized translation model accurately conveys overseas information. The reasoning technology compares and verifies information from various sources to logically infer the causes of stock price movements.
Investors can also use the "real-time issues" service to immediately gauge market interests. AI analyzes news and filings and displays 20 issues currently exerting strong market influence. Toss Securities uses its in-house ontology technology to analyze links among issues and assess how specific issues could affect industries and corporations.
Toss Securities also carried out an organizational reshuffle to advance its AI services. It shifted to a specialized "AI Tribe" structure so product managers, data engineers, designers, front-end engineers, and domain experts can collaborate within one organization. Through this, it plans to improve the overall customer experience and strengthen the competitiveness of its AI services.
