Timefolio Asset Management said on the 23rd that the net worth aggregates of 19 "TIME Active" exchange-traded fund (ETF) issues surpassed 1 trillion won.
According to Timefolio Asset Management and the Korea Exchange (KRX), as of the previous day, the AUM of the 19 TIME Active ETFs stood at 1.01074 trillion won.
This follows the first time it surpassed 100 billion won in Jan. last year, marking a tenfold increase in 1 year and 5 months.
Timefolio Asset Management holds the No. 1 market share in domestic equity active ETFs based on the Korea Exchange (KRX). A Timefolio Asset Management official said this is the result of sticking to "active ETFs" in an ETF market dominated by asset managers affiliated with major financial groups, backed by robust research and portfolio adjustments.
Passive ETFs mechanically track an index according to the regular rebalancing cycle. By contrast, TIME Active ETFs allow fund managers to analyze market-leading industries and stocks in real time and proactively adjust portfolio weights.
In fact, the flagship "TIME U.S. Nasdaq 100 Active ETF" has posted a cumulative return of 514.55% from its May 11, 2022 listing to June 22 this year. That is 317.72 percentage points (p) above the benchmark over the same period (the won-converted Nasdaq 100), which returned 196.83%.
With money flowing in quickly, the product's net worth swelled by more than 200 billion won from a year earlier to 273.55 billion won.
Other flagship products are also surging. The "TIME Global AI Artificial Intelligence Active ETF," which invests across artificial intelligence infrastructure, has risen 649.60% since listing (May 16, 2023) on a strategy that spans the entire value chain, including data centers, power grids, and semiconductors. In three years since launch, net worth grew to 289.10 billion won. The "TIME Korea Plus Dividend Active ETF," which targets both monthly dividends and capital gains, also surpassed 100 billion won in net worth, joining the ranks of large products.
Kim Nam-ho, head of ETF management at Timefolio Asset Management, said, "TIME Active ETFs surpassing 1 trillion won is the result of investors recognizing the need for active ETFs and Timefolio's management capabilities," adding, "Rather than temporary inflows driven by short-term theme fads, performance accumulated in core investment areas—such as market bellwether indexes like KOSPI and the S&P 500, artificial intelligence (AI), dividends, the space-defense industry, and humanoids—and trust in the products have built up."
