P&T Link, a corporations specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, said on the 17th that demand for building Sovereign AI is growing after the recent U.S. government move to block access to Anthropic's "Mythos 5," raising expectations of benefits. According to foreign media including the Washington Post (WP), on the 12th the U.S. government issued export control guidance blocking foreign access to Anthropic's top-tier AI models Mythos 5 and Fable 5 for national security reasons.
This is a blanket ban that includes foreign nationals within the United States. As it is a case of regulating the AI service model itself, the industry sees it as a sign that AI models are being treated as a national strategic asset.
P&T Link projected that the measure will expand demand in Korea for Sovereign AI, which seeks to reduce reliance on overseas AI models and build AI with in-house technology and infrastructure. It especially anticipated increased system building and investment for domestic AI service self-reliance in the public sector, centered on defense and healthcare.
P&T Link is a corporations that specializes in building AI infrastructure such as graphics processing unit (GPU) servers and AI storage. Based on partnerships with xFusion and ASRock Rack, the company said it is supplying and building servers in the domestic market even amid a global shortage of AI server supply.
P&T Link said it has won server supply contracts worth 77 billion won this year from Naver Cloud and Kakao. The company expects order volumes to increase going forward as demand for AI data centers rises.
