Cha Moon-hyun, vice president of Timefolio Asset Management, will take office as the new CEO starting in July. Along with the current CEO Hwang Sung-hwan, the company will be led under a co-CEO structure.
Timefolio Asset Management said on the 15th that it carried out its 2026 regular executive appointments and appointed Vice President Cha as CEO. The appointments take effect July 1.
Born in 1972, the new CEO Cha has led the growth of Timefolio Asset Management since the company's early days. As chief operating officer (COO), Cha has overseen overall company operations, and through the CEO appointment plans to strengthen governance and lay a foundation for growth.
Park Jung-lim, former CEO of KB Securities, was appointed as a new outside director.
Ahn Seung-woo, head of alternative investments, is promoted to vice president and will serve as chief investment officer (CIO) for alternative investments. Since 2015, Vice President Ahn has led the alternative investments unit, delivering successive results in pre-IPO investments and contributing to the expansion of the company's portfolio.
Timefolio Asset Management will also establish an equities investment division by integrating the equities management headquarters and the ETF headquarters. It hired Executive Managing Director Shim Hyun-soo as the new CIO of the equities investment division. Over some 20 years, Shim has served as an analyst, quant portfolio manager, and CIO, and is a global investment expert. Going forward, Shim plans to strengthen synergies between the hedge fund and active ETF businesses and expand communication with institutional and retail investors.
Lee Chan-hwi, head of Equities Management 1, and Kang Hyun-dam, head of Equities Management 2, were promoted to executive managing director. The company said it highly evaluated the two executives for playing key roles in the hedge fund management area. Lee Seok-hyun of the management division was also promoted to executive managing director.
The ETF business division, which has grown rapidly over the past year, will be expanded and reorganized into a three-headquarters structure. In addition to the existing ETF Management Headquarters and ETF Strategy Headquarters, it will establish the ETF Consulting Headquarters. The ETF Consulting Headquarters is responsible for client communications and sales, and Director General Cho Sang-jun is promoted to director to lead the unit. Kim Nam-ho, head of the ETF Management Headquarters, and Kim Nam-ui, head of the ETF Strategy Headquarters, were also promoted to director.
