As the KOSPI index slid below the 8,000 mark, triggering a sharp sell-off, SK Telecom extended gains on expectations of artificial intelligence (AI) data center cooperation with Nvidia. In contrast, Doosan Robotics surged early on hopes for physical AI collaboration with Nvidia but later turned lower.
According to the Korea Exchange (KRX) on the 8th, as of 10:20 a.m., SK Telecom was trading at 107,900 won, up 1,500 won (1.41%) from the previous session. In contrast, Doosan Robotics climbed intraday to 154,000 won (9.76%), showing strength, but then gave up all its gains and was down in the 3% range.
SK Telecom said it would pursue cooperation with Nvidia to build an AI data center on the day. According to SK Group, SK Telecom plans to push a full-stack AI cloud business, spanning from semiconductors to data center operations, based on Nvidia's AI infrastructure platform "DSX."
Doosan Group also announced it would expand the scope of cooperation with Nvidia. In particular, Doosan Robotics is developing an agentic robot operating system (OS) using Nvidia's open libraries and AI technology, and is also discussing the development of robot solutions that can be used on industrial sites.
The two companies plan to cooperate to advance physical AI technology that enables robots to perceive, judge, and move autonomously in their work environments.
In the industry, some said that the visit to Korea by Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang has helped make AI cooperation talks with domestic corporations more concrete, keeping interest in related stocks alive. However, as selling spread across the local stock market on the day, share-price moves diverged even among stocks with expectations of cooperation with Nvidia.
