Former KB Insurance CEO Kim Gi-hwan has been tapped as the next chair of the Korea Fire Insurance Association.
According to the insurance industry on the 28th, the association's chair nomination committee recommended Kim, the former CEO, as the final candidate after interviews with the final three candidates.
Earlier, on the previous month, the association issued a call for applications for chair. Through document screening, it narrowed the final interview pool to three: former KB Insurance President Kim Gi-hwan, former Financial Supervisory Service Assistant Deputy Governor Kim Beom-jun, and former Heungkuk Fire&Marine Insurance President Lim Gyu-jun, and after conducting interviews, it selected Kim, the former president.
Born in 1963, Kim, the former president, graduated from Seoul Ushin High School and Seoul National University with a degree in economics, served as head of public relations at KB Financial Group and as managing director and senior managing director overseeing risk management, and later as executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO). From 2021, Kim led KB Insurance as CEO for three years.
