Choi Un-yeol's second term as president of The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants was effectively confirmed on the 26th.
According to the accounting industry on the day, The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants said Choi was the sole registrant in the call for candidates for the 48th president that ran through the 22nd.
Under election rules, if there is only one candidate for the KICPA president, that candidate is elected without a vote.
Choi is scheduled to take office as the 48th president at the regular general meeting at 3 p.m. on the 17th of next month. Choi's term is two years, running through June 2028.
Choi, a former professor in the business administration department at Sogang University, has served as KOSDAQ Committee Chairperson, president of the Korean Securities Association, and a Bank of Korea Monetary Policy Board Commissioner. In the 20th National Assembly, Choi served as a proportional representative for the Democratic Party of Korea and was elected the 47th president in 2024.
