In early trading on the 18th, Jusung Engineering surged 25%. Buying is seen piling in on news of shipments of atomic layer growth (ALG) semiconductor equipment. According to Jusung Engineering, the ALG shipment is the first in the world.
As of 9:40 a.m. that day on the Korea Exchange, Jusung Engineering was trading at 175,100 won, up 34,900 won (24.89%) from the previous session.
Jusung Engineering said on the 18th that on the 16th it held a shipment ceremony for its ALG transistor full integration semiconductor manufacturing equipment. It did not disclose the client by name, but it is known to be a global semiconductor manufacturer.
ALG is an atomic-scale thin-film growth technology. Unlike conventional atomic layer deposition (ALD), which sprays materials that constitute semiconductor circuits, it grows crystals, which not only reduces deposition and etching process expenses but also allows the fabrication of ultra-fine circuits without a lithography process.
However, Jusung Engineering's earnings are a concern. On a consolidation basis for the first quarter of this year, Jusung Engineering posted sales of 54.9 billion won and an operating loss of 7 billion won. Sales fell 54.6% from a year earlier, and operating profit swung to a loss from a 33.9 billion won surplus in the first quarter of last year.
