NH-Amundi Asset Management said on the 15th that the HANARO Fn K-Semiconductor ETF has surpassed 3 trillion won in net worth.
According to the Korea Exchange (KRX) on the 13th, the net worth of the HANARO Fn K-Semiconductor ETF stood at 3.0639 trillion won. After surpassing 2 trillion won at the end of Apr., it added about 1 trillion won in roughly two weeks.
The HANARO Fn K-Semiconductor ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that invests in 20 domestic semiconductor corporations. It holds Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics as major constituents representing K-semiconductors.
An NH-Amundi Asset Management official analyzed that Samsung Electro-Mechanics is expected to see improved results as high-value multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and high-density package substrates for highly integrated semiconductors (FC-BGA) are emerging as essential materials for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. The explanation was that the recent rise in Samsung Electro-Mechanics' share price is driving the ETF's returns.
As of the 13th, the HANARO Fn K-Semiconductor ETF's return was up 178.19% year to date, 197.63% over six months, and 504.19% over one year, continuing its upward trend. NH-Amundi Asset Management said it is the best performer among domestic equity-type semiconductor ETFs excluding leveraged products.
Kim Seung-cheol, head of ETF investments at NH-Amundi Asset Management, said, "As the core of AI technology shifts from training to inference, demand for memory semiconductors for data storage is surging," and added, "As Korean corporations are drawing attention as the primary beneficiaries, the HANARO Fn K-Semiconductor ETF, which can invest across Korea's AI Semiconductor value chain, can be a good investment destination."
