The KOSPI index surpassed 6,900 intraday, setting a record high. After breaking through the 6,800 level on the day, it is even attempting to enter the 7,000 level.
As of 1:26 p.m. on the day, the KOSPI index was trading at 6,901.32, up 302.45 points (4.58%) from the previous session.
Buying by foreigners and institutions is lifting the index. Foreigners are net buyers of 2.5467 trillion won, and institutions are net buyers of 1.4743 trillion won. Individuals alone are net sellers of nearly 4 trillion won.
Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, the No. 1 and No. 2 by market capitalization on the Korea Exchange main board, also jumped sharply, achieving "230,000 won Samsung" and "1.43 million won Hynix." As of 1:21 p.m., Samsung Electronics rose 9,500 won (4.31%) from the previous session to 230,000 won in transactions. SK hynix was trading at 1,432,000 won, up 146,000 won (11.35%) from the previous session.
