Hana Card said on the 28th that it is launching an instant discount promotion in collaboration with UnionPay (UPI) for travelers to China, Taiwan, Vietnam and Japan.
Users must apply in advance on the Hana Pay app event page and register a Hana UnionPay debit or credit card. After that, a 10% instant discount applies for payments of $50 or more at offline merchants in the relevant countries. The discount is capped at $10 per transaction, up to a total of three times.
In Taiwan, customers can receive discounts when they spend over a certain amount at major merchants such as Carrefour and Eslite Bookstore. In China, when the registered card is linked to Alipay or WeChat Pay and used for QR payments, a 10% instant discount is provided along with a waiver of the 3% payment fee. In Japan, a 10% instant discount applies at stores such as Bic Camera and Tsuruha Drugstore, and it can be combined with coupon discounts.
Hana Card President Seong Young-su said, "Instant discounts are benefits that customers can readily feel," and added, "We will continue to roll out tailored services that travelers can experience overseas, based on accumulated data."
