Korea Investment Management said on the 27th that Chief Executive Bae Jae-gyu took part in the "relay campaign to eradicate illegal cyber gambling among teenagers" to raise awareness of the dangers and promote prevention.
The campaign was arranged to heighten public awareness of the problem of illegal gambling targeting teenagers, which has been spreading rapidly in online and mobile environments.
The event is a public-interest campaign led by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to build consensus for crime prevention. Participants deliver the message, "Illegal cyber gambling targeting teenagers is a scam crime that you can never win," and then designate the next participant to continue the relay.
Recently, teen gambling has been spreading quickly because it is easily accessible through content disguised as games, and social concern is growing due to its high addictiveness and financial harm. In particular, gambling experiences formed during adolescence can lead to future financial problems and crimes, underscoring the importance of prevention and proper financial education.
Korea Investment Management plans to continue promoting a responsible financial culture and to help teenagers grow into healthy members of society based on a sound understanding of the economy.
Bae Jae-gyu, chief executive of Korea Investment Management, said, "Illegal cyber gambling targeting teenagers goes beyond simple entertainment and is a serious social issue," adding, "We hope this campaign will help teenagers recognize the dangers of gambling and form sound financial habits."
Bae joined the campaign after being designated by Cho Won-bok, chief executive of KCGI Asset Management. Bae designated Kim Ki-hyeon, chief executive of Kiwoom Asset Management, as the next relay participant.
