Sena Technologies said on the 24th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Clobot, a corporations specializing in robot services and control solutions, to develop a "robot-worker voice communication solution" and expand its robot business.
The agreement aims to build a next-generation communication solution that lets robots and on-site workers communicate by voice and work organically together by combining Sena's mesh wireless communication technology with Clobot's robot control platform.
The companies noted that the core competitiveness of the solution to be developed through this collaboration lies in Sena's independently built "mesh networking" technology.
Clobot supplies customized robot services in manufacturing, logistics, field, and service sectors based on its Autonomous Driving solution "Chameleon" and its multi-type and heterogeneous robot integrated control solution "Chroms."
Clobot plans to introduce Sena's communication technology into the service-robot domain, where many robots and workers collaborate organically, through its partnership with Sena. In particular, it plans to build a voice-based work system so that on-site workers and heterogeneous robots at hospitals, nursing homes, screening centers, and large buildings can streamline repetitive tasks such as guidance, cleaning, transport, and patrol and optimize staffing.
The two companies plan to collaborate to build a next-generation robot-human collaboration ecosystem based on Sena's mesh wireless communication technology and Clobot's robot cooperative control system. Sena will provide its proprietary voice communication system optimized for robot-worker communication and the full range of communication modules and interface technologies for linking with the control platform, while Clobot will handle integrated solution development within its platform and testing at various client sites.
Cho In-haeng, a doctor at Sena's domestic business division, said, "Through this partnership with Clobot, we will provide an innovative communication infrastructure that allows robots to become true colleagues that communicate closely with humans and work safely in any constrained environment, beyond being simple machines."
Clobot President Son Jun-bae said, "By combining Sena's mesh communication technology with the robot control system, we can provide a solution in which on-site workers in the service industry and robots move organically like one team, beyond simple robot operation," adding, "This will be a pivotal opportunity to dramatically boost productivity at service-industry sites and solve staffing challenges."
