MG Saemaeul Geumgo said on the 23rd that it launched a cancer mutual aid plan that covers even high-cost treatments such as carbon-ion radiotherapy for anticancer care and CAR-T drug therapy.
The product expands coverage across the entire spectrum of cancer treatment. After a cancer diagnosis, it covers surgery, radiation therapy for cancer, and anticancer drug therapy once a year for up to 10 years.
In particular, special treatments such as Da Vinci robot surgery, carbon-ion radiotherapy, and CAR-T anticancer drug therapy are included. Carbon-ion therapy and CAR-T therapy are known to be high-cost treatments, costing about 50 million won (based on 12 sessions) and 300 million won (based on one session), respectively.
If overseas treatment is needed, the add-on "healthcare service" provides support for flights, lodging, and interpretation. It also offers reservations for genetic testing and NK cell testing, as well as appointments at major hospitals, and these services are available 30 days after the contract date.
The entry barrier has also been lowered. Diabetes patients can enroll if they meet certain requirements, and those with hypertension or hyperlipidemia can enroll under the same standards as general members. Enrollment is available from age 15 up to 80, and coverage lasts up to age 100.
A Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives (KFCC) official said, "It is designed to reduce the long-term expense burden that arises during cancer treatment and to allow a wide range of members to enroll under reasonable conditions."
