Korea Financial Investment Association said on the 21st that Hwang Seong-yeop, head of the association, joined the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's "relay campaign to eradicate illegal gambling among teenagers."
The campaign is a pan-societal action movement conducted in a relay format to raise awareness of the dangers of illegal cyber gambling targeting teenagers that is spreading through online and mobile environments.
Recently, illegal cyber gambling, similar to games, has been rapidly penetrating the teenage demographic. As a result, cases leading to addiction and financial damage are increasing, heightening social concern.
Hwang said, "Illegal gambling among teenagers is not just an individual issue but one that undermines the future foundation of our society," adding, "To help teenagers form sound financial values and grow up healthy, the Korea Financial Investment Association will also add its strength by increasing financial education for teenagers."
Meanwhile, Hwang participated in the campaign upon the recommendation of Kim Seong-hwan, CEO of Korea Investment & Securities Co., and recommended Oh Hwa-gyeong, head of the Korea Federation of Savings Banks, as the next participant.
