On the 10th morning, the KOSPI index continued gains of more than 2% on combined buying by foreigners and institutions. The KOSDAQ index is also rising on foreign buying.
As of 11:43 a.m., the KOSPI index was trading at 5,896.49, up 2.05% (118.48 points) from the previous trading day.
The main board is being led by foreigners and institutions. Foreigners are net buyers of 419.8 billion won and institutions 113.2 billion won, while individuals are net sellers of 708.3 billion won.
Seven of the top 10 stocks by market cap on the main board are rising. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are extending gains of more than 2% and 3%, respectively, and Hyundai Motor, Hanwha Aerospace, SK Square, and KB Financial are also up. LG Energy Solution, Samsung Biologics, and Doosan Enerbility are declining.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was up 1.39% (14.94 points) at 1,090.94 from the previous day.
On the KOSDAQ market, foreigners are buying 74.5 billion won. Individuals and institutions are net sellers of 31.1 billion won and 44.3 billion won, respectively.
On the KOSDAQ market, seven of the top 10 stocks by market cap are falling. While Rainbow Robotics, HLB, and LigaChem Biosciences are rising, EcoPro, EcoPro BM, Alteogen, Sam Chun Dang Pharm, ABL Bio, LEENO Industrial, and Kolon TissueGene are declining.
Overnight news that Israel proposed peace talks to the Lebanese government suggested easing tensions in the Middle East. Optimism appears to be growing in the market as buying sentiment strengthens.
Kang Jin-hyeok, an analyst at Shinhan Investment & Securities, said, "After Samsung Electronics reported earnings, expectations are rising for strong results from SK hynix as well, and semiconductor stocks are climbing," adding, "The KOSPI index is also in a 'W-shaped rebound.'"
