The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants said on the 9th that it held an inauguration ceremony for the Daegu, Pohang and Gumi Regional Certified Public Accountants Associations at Hotel Raonjena in Daegu Metropolitan City on the 7th.
The inauguration ceremony that day was co-hosted with the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Regional Certified Public Accountants Association. It is part of a regional network activation project that expanded the Daegu Regional Certified Public Accountants Association into the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Regional Certified Public Accountants Association last year and established regional certified public accountants associations in basic local governments such as Gumi and Pohang.
About 70 people attended the event, including Choi Un-yeol, president of The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Assembly member Choi Eun-seok, executives of the main association and members from the Daegu and North Gyeongsang regions.
In congratulatory remarks, Choi said, "Having served in the National Assembly as a former certified public accountant, I felt the need for CPAs to demonstrate their capabilities as regional industry experts," adding, "I hope you will play an even greater role in revitalizing the Daegu and North Gyeongsang regional economy going forward."
In a welcome speech, Choi Un-yeol, president of The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, personally outlined key initiatives, including pushing for enactment of the Basic Accounting Act, hosting the World Congress of Accountants (WCOA), easing staffing requirements for branch offices of accounting firms, and launching CPA News.
The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants said that with the launch of the Daegu, Pohang and Gumi Regional Certified Public Accountants Associations, it plans to promote close communication and information sharing among members and to identify and carry out projects tailored to regional characteristics.
