Korea Investment & Securities Co. said on Apr. 7 that it will additionally provide open-source code related to trading development that uses its open API (application programming interface).
Korea Investment & Securities Co. is providing sample code based on the open API and a backtesting function free of charge through the open-source platform for developers, GitHub. The aim is to lower the barrier to algorithmic trading, which had been considered the domain of institutional investors and experts, so that individual investors can also make systematic, data-driven investments.
The newly added investment-strategy generation function is designed to let users set buy and sell criteria by using various technical indicators such as moving averages and momentum.
It also strengthened artificial intelligence (AI) integration. In AI-based development environments such as Claude Code and Cursor, when conditions are entered in natural language, they can be generated in code form or proceed to data queries and testing tasks.
Kim Gwan-sik, head of the Digital Innovation Division at Korea Investment & Securities Co., said, "As interest grows in algorithmic trading and AI-based development environments, we plan to continue expanding related technologies and open-source offerings so anyone can easily and precisely build their own investment strategies."
