Samsung Securities said it will run an "RIA account opening event" through the end of May for customers who open a domestic market reentry account (RIA) for the first time.

An RIA account provides tax benefits when reinvesting funds from overseas stock investments into the domestic stock market. Based on the amount from selling overseas stocks, up to 50 million won is tax-exempt, and the capital gains tax reduction rate is 100% through May, 80% through July, and 50% through the end of the year, respectively.

The event is for Korea-resident citizens who open an RIA account for the first time. One coffee coupon will be given to the first 20,000 customers to open an RIA.

Also, among the first 20,000 customers to open an RIA account, those who deposit into the RIA account overseas stocks worth 1 million won or more as of Dec. 23, 2025, or maintain an RIA account balance of 1 million won or more through May 29, 2026, will receive 10,000 won in domestic investment support funds.

The investment support funds are scheduled to be paid in June, and the usage period is through five business days including the event application date. Any unused amount will be automatically retrieved on the morning of the sixth business day.
