Magic content corporations Platform934, a subsidiary of KOSDAQ-listed Heng Sheng Group, hosted the magic management "DONT BLINK 3," which wrapped up successfully after selling out all 200 seats.
Platform934 said on the 25th that it held DONT BLINK 3 at Guro Creative Art Hall on the 21st.
DONT BLINK is a magic competition hosted by Platform934 with the motto "the first real magic battle." Unlike conventional magic shows, participants perform magic whose outcome is decided within 3 minutes, a short time frame. After a pilot event planned in Aug. last year, a second competition was held in Nov., drawing strong responses from audiences.
In the third competition, which was held this time, 40 magicians ranging from elementary school students to adults competed in the preliminaries, and eight contestants advanced to the finals. Most participants were club members and hobbyists rather than professional magicians. Judges included international guests Minemura Kenji and Crazy Sam, as well as leading Korea-based magicians Ryo, Do Ki-mun, and PH.
In the finals, held in a tournament format, magician JYS, who drew enthusiastic responses from the judges and audience with rope magic, won the title. The runner-up was Yoo Seok-ju, who has been honing magic skills while working a regular job.
A Platform934 official said, "Following the previous competition's winner, the runner-up in this competition was also not a professional magician," and added, "We aim to discover magicians hidden in the underground."
The event captivated the audience not only with the competition but also with performances by judges and special guests. As guests, top Korea-based magician Lee Eun-gyeol, along with Eden, Kim Jun-pyo, Jeong Woo-jun, and Kim Young-ju, delivered special performances.
The competition's magic will be uploaded as short-form videos on the DONT BLINK Instagram channel and will later be produced and released as YouTube content.
Platform934 said it aims to use this event as a springboard to grow K-magic content into global intellectual property (IP). Centered in Korea, it plans to enter global markets including China and establish itself as the next-generation Korean Wave content.
