In early trading on the 20th, Pearl Abyss shares fell sharply for a second straight day. After news spread that the new title "Crimson Desert" received lower-than-expected reviews, investor sentiment appeared slow to recover.
As of 9:48 a.m. that day, on the KOSDAQ market, Pearl Abyss was trading at 42,250 won, down 3,750 won (8.15%) from the previous session.
Pearl Abyss released Crimson Desert worldwide that day. About two hours after its 7 a.m. launch, it logged a peak concurrent user count of about 239,000 on Steam.
However, with overseas reviews mixed ahead of the launch, disappointed investors dumped shares the previous day. Pearl Abyss stock plunged more than 29% the previous day, even hitting the lower limit of the daily price band.
Global review site Metacritic disclosed the previous day that the PC version of Crimson Desert had a Metascore of 78. Graphics and combat dynamism were rated highly, but controls and depth drew negative reviews. That fell short of the 80-plus Metascore the industry had anticipated.
