Park Bong-kwon, head of Kyobo Securities, won another term. Park's term ends at the end of this month, but with this fourth consecutive reappointment, he has joined the ranks of "long-serving CEOs."
According to the financial investment industry on the 11th, at the end of last month the Nominating Committee of Kyobo Securities recommended Park Bong-kwon as the final CEO candidate, and Commissioners passed it unanimously. Kyobo Securities plans to finalize Park's appointment after the regular shareholders meeting and board meeting on the 26th.
Park will maintain a co-CEO structure with Lee Seok-ki, whose term runs through March 2027. Under Kyobo Securities' co-CEO structure, Park oversees wealth management (WM) and investment banking (IB), while Lee is in charge of sales and trading (S&T) and management support.
The Nominating Committee assessed Park as a finance expert who served as Deputy Minister at the National Pension Service Fund Management Headquarters and as chief investment officer (CIO) at Kyobo Life Insurance. The Nominating Committee explained the recommendation, saying, "Over the past six years, by overseeing the IB and WM institutional sectors, Park contributed to Kyobo Securities' growth and delivered the best performance since the company's founding, demonstrating that he has the qualities and capabilities required of a CEO."
Born in 1963, Park graduated from Seoul National University and joined Kyobo Life Insurance in 1990, building his career in the stock management and bond management institutional sectors. He then worked at HDC Holdings Asset Management, Fides Asset Management, and the National Pension Service before taking the helm of Kyobo Securities in 2020.
